Magazine Research : Conventions

While researching the magazine genre that promotes body positivity, I took note of the conventions that I had seen, such as :
  • A masthead (usually the name of the magazine brand) : They are usually in big and unique fonts, which becomes the trademark of the magazine.
  • An issue number and date : Placed under the title in small print.
  • Main image/cover : Used to promote or is relation to what is inside the magazine
  • Main cover line : Features what the magazine is about.
  • Cover lines (typically on the left or right side) :  Tell readers of what other content will also be included in the magazine
Each of these are significant to the making of a magazine.
Depending on the genre of the magazine, these conventions may differ for the targeted audience.
While looking at other magazines for inspiration, I noticed that the magazines had similar cover lines, much being about life hacks, health, clothing, and for a few of them, self-love/self-care. These cover lines promotes what the content is like within the magazine targets audience.
